Wheels ain't wheelsJust like our society has become faster and more disposable, so too has the production of bike wheels. If you need a new wheel or two for your bike, these days the quickest and cheapest option is to purchase a pre-built wheel or wheelset. We supply pre-built wheels from Shimano which have good quality hub and bearing surfaces.
Of course we still proudly custom build wheels to whatever spec you require. While this service may seem quite expensive in comparison, a good quality, hand-built wheel will always outlast a pre-built wheel.
You need to consider the following things with having a wheel custom built by us:
- Do you need front, rear or both?
- How many spokes do you need per wheel? We recommend a minimum of 32 spokes for the most durable wheel
- You will need a rim - we supply Mavic, Velocity and Sun rims regularly
- You will need a hub - we recommend and supply Shimano hubs regularly
- You will need spokes and nipples - we only use the highest quality Swiss made DT Double-Butted Stainless Steel spokes unless otherwise specified
- You will probably need a rimstrip for your new wheel - Velox cloth strips are the way to go
