Winter Riding!

Winter has arrived, and to keep you in the saddle during the icy Canberra winter, we have plenty of great gear available!

Winter Clothing
Come in and check out our toasty new range of winter clothing, including jackets, vests, winter jerseys, beanies, ear warmers, gloves, booties, arm and leg warmers and tights.

Our best advice for winter riding is to kit yourself out with three basic layers, which you can use to mix and match for all riding conditions:

Thin Thermal Layer - to be worn next to the skin on those super cold mornings when you need to retain your core body temperature. Ideally this layer should draw perspiration (wicking) away from the skin.

Fleece Middle Layer - Can be worn by itself on mild mornings, or over the thermal layer. Once again, wicking properties are desirable.

Wind/Waterproof Shell - Essential part of your winter riding wardrobe! Ultralight materials provide wind and water resistance, while being small enough to scrunch or fold up into a pocket-sized bundle. Don't leave home without it!

Lighting
As daylight savings leaves us, more and more of our riding (especially for all the commuters out there) is done in the dark. By law you are required to have front and rear lights when riding at night, but you should aim for more than the bare minimum!

Rear Lights - rear lights are fairly simple. With LED technology, you can pick up cheap, reliable and long lasting lights which provide various lighting modes (including highly visible flashing modes). These can be attached to the bike or the rider very easily.

Front Lights - a bit more involved. To simply 'be seen' you can use similar lighting to what is on the rear. If you ride on bike paths however, or offroad where there are no street lights, then better lighting is required. Rechargeable lighting systems are best for lighting up the path in front of you, ranging through halogen, LED and HID (High Intensity Discharge) systems. Some lights can be helmet mounted for better offroad lighting.

So drop by and check out all our new stock to keep you on the bike this winter!
